Under The Sea!

We took Soph to te Georgia Aquarium today. It is the largest aquarium in the world and sooooo cool. We watched the dolphin show and then walked around 2-story high glass aquariums that had the friendliest fish, sharks, and stingrays in them. We even got to see their 4 whale sharks. Soph waved and talked to all the creatures. She was yet again....adorable.

What A Zoo!

Garfield Suites in Cinci. Pretty nice hotel. It even looks nice after we baby proofed everything with masking tape. Corners are wrapped in wash cloths and tape, outlets and cords are covered in tape, and drawers are out of business with masking tape. It's easy to travel and it works pretty great!
The forecast had a rainy week set out for us, but we took full advantage of Thursday. It was bright and beautiful and the perfect day for the zoo! The Cincinnati Zoo is one if our faves. We'd been before and it's even better with a baby! It was super crowded, but Soph loved watching the other children! We fed a Giraffe, got to pet a goat, and watched the lions roar (They actually rooooooooared!!!!). It was a great zoo day. Soph really liked the elephants!

Kathy and Angie Diamond (Leslie, the fairy godmother's, mom and sis-in-law) drove from Columbus to visit us that night. It was great chatting with another new mom and grandma. They loved on Soph for a few hours and then enjoyed the show. We are loving the opportunity to see friends and family around the country that we might not otherwise get to see!

Sophie's 9 months old today!!!!

Soph crawls, talks, and pulls up in this 3 minute video. Other things she's doing include self feeding with a pincer grab, cruising (going from one piece of furniture to the next while standing), and dancing every time she hears music!

If you look closely, you can see Soph's first tooth coming in at the bottom center. She actually has two coming at the same time right there!!!!

We spent this week in Durham, N.C at The Millennium Hotel. Loved Durham. The Hotel was nothing special. They did have an indoor pool and we took her swimming a few times. She loves the water!!!!! Her favorite new game is peekabo. She's always laughed when we do it to her, but she has taken the reigns of the game now. She holds her blanket up, holds very still, thrn yanks it down and giggles. She can improvise with a bib, menu, or anything else she can get her hands on. It's pretty great!!
We had a lot of fun going to Duke Gardens, as well. This, being the first city back in nice weather, made the day even sweeter. Haven and Denny came too, which made it the sweetest!

I brought Soph to the theatre between shows on Saturday. We try to do that on the weekends so she gets some daddy time on one of those days, we stay home Sunday between shows for Eric to rest. Soph loves all the attention she gets at the theatre though. What other baby gets to grow up with fairytale creatures as friends?! She visits with a friendly Ogre named Daddy/Uncle Shrek, gets visits from the Ugly Duckling, gets kisses from a princess and has a grown man with sewn on dwarf legs dance with her. What a life!!!! And if she gets bored with all that, we can always push her around in the laundry basket. Always a winner, that one.

The Performing Arts Complex in Durham is one of the many theaters that has each act traveling through sign the walls backstage with a signature (I.e. Jerry Sienfeld, Whoopie Goldberg, Gabe Dixon Band) or a big Mural (Mamma Mia, Lion King, Pink Floyd) that is signed by the entire company. Denny Paschal (Peter Pan) designs the murals in all the cities. This city was a play off the Lion King mural. This is just the sketch. Now comes the paint.

Here is the finished wall mural in Memphis. It's a fave!

A is for Annapolis...B is for Baltimore

A is for Annapolis....B is for Baltimore

Sophie had a lot of first while we were here. Crawling!!!!! She started here and got quite good, quite fast. By day 3, she was pulling up to stand, all by herself. She would even let go for a few seconds and then, boom, she'd fall back on her cushy, diapered bottom.

We also worked a lot on the word DOG because Eric's parents have a sweet-natured black lab named Roxie. Roxie seemed confused by us calling her DOG. The news came as a surprise to her. By the end of our time there, Soph was saying DOG and GOD. Both good to know.

She now has Ma, Da, and Ga down pat. We also had to get her a new car-seat, as she had outgrown the Graco Snug-ride that we loved. We went with a Safety 1st Air Protect Convertible. Sophie loves it!!!

My favorite new thing she's doing is "arms up.". It's something they teach on "Your Baby Can Read" and Soph has really got the hang of it.

In this pic, we ate outside at Brio on the last day of Baltimore. It was a sunny and breezy 70 degrees. Sophie giggled every time the wind blew in her face and hair. It was possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen.

Family Pics!!

We took Sophie to Picture People in Annapolis this week. They are hands down the best with baby photography. At three months, we took her to one in Orlando, and they were equally good in that location. Whitney was our photographer this time and she was great. They make the most of the short attention span a baby has for pics. Although, most of the credit goes to Sophie, who is just the most good-natured baby you could ask for. So...maybe she pooped in the middle of her session. At least she did it with a smile:)
